‘Carrie’ remake promoted with creepy prank
It’s prom time again. The Carrie remake/update
of Carrie premieres
Oct. 18, and to promote it, a fun telekinesis prank was perpetrated upon
unsuspecting coffee shop customers. Or perhaps they were all in on it. You
decide based on your current level of cynicism.
In the new film, based on Stephen King’s classic novel and
directed by Kimberly Peirce, Chloë Grace Moretz plays
Carrie White and Julianne Moore plays her zealous mother
Margaret. You will recall that Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie filled those roles
to great effect in the original 1976 Brian De
Palma version .
The
carefully orchestrated prank features a woman who gets really upset when some
idiot spills coffee onto her laptop. Instead of pouring hot tea into his pants
like a normal person would do, she slams him up against the wall and rearranges
the furniture.
