With news of pending fatherhood,
Québec photographer Patrice Laroche got an idea.
After searching online to ensure its
uniqueness, Laroche and partner Sandra Denis went to a local gas station and
posed with the air hose to her belly button. They returned every couple of
months, wearing the same clothes, shooting in the same light.
Shortly after baby Justine arrived
in August, Laroche posted the series of pics on his public Facebook page. Aside
from smiles and comments from a few friends, reaction was limited until last
month, when his niece spotted the series on another website.
After that?
“It explodes,” Laroche explains, in
a thick French accent. “I lost control during the two weeks that followed. All
the websites in the world, they take them, surely hundreds of thousands.”
