Police have released the name of a couple found dead in their Scarborough home

Ji (George) Jia, 59, and Shi (Shirley) Zhou, 51, both of Toronto, were found dead in their home at 336 Huntsmill Blvd., near Warden Ave. and Steeles Ave. E, after a female relative called 911 from a payphone Sunday morning.
The couple’s adult son was arrested at the scene and willingly went with police, Det. Sgt. Dean Burks told reporters during a late-night briefing on the quiet street on Sunday.
Li Tian Jia, 26, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
He appeared at Old City Hall court Monday morning wearing an orange jumpsuit, leaning his slight frame over the prisoner’s box as he listened to the proceedings. He’ll remain in custody and is scheduled to be back in court on Friday.
The younger Jia doesn’t work and isn’t in school, Burks told reporters on Sunday, but has lived here since 2005. His father has split his time between Canada and another country.
Three tenants also live inside the home, which property records show Ji (George) Jia bought for $520,000 in August, 2011.
One tenant, a young woman who spoke to TV reporters outside the home Monday but asked not to be identified, said she had felt uncomfortable since she moved in and tried to move out in March.
She confirmed Tian Jia lived in the house and said he didn’t work.
“He was always hiding in the room,” she said, adding that she asked police to open the home so that she could get her stuff and leave.
“I want to leave as quick as possible,” she said.
Police were still collecting evidence from the home late Sunday night and were seen searching a red 2000 Ford Telstar parked in the garage, with a license plate belonging to Li Tian Jia. Neighbours gathered on the street to discuss what happened, shocked by a flurry of activity on a normally quiet street.
