Australia has itself another
favorite world-class hurdler, who's making a name for herself with a
"sexy" warm-up routine that has to be seen to be believed.
Michelle Jenneke, 19, wowed
the crowd at the IAAF World Junior Championship last weekend in Barcelona
with her hip-wiggling, shimmying, leg shaking pre-race jiggle — a video of
which has had hundreds of thousands of views since it was uploaded to YouTube.
"You
have to appreciate anyone who enjoys themselves this much," USA Today wrote.
It helped for Jenneke's
running cred that she then creamed the field in her first women's 100-meter
hurdle heat, the paper added.
And
while she may have placed fifth in the final — and failed to qualify for the
London Olympics, where she would have faced the likes of fellow Australian and, according to the Fairfax media, 100-meter hurdles favorite, Sally Pearson — she has a ready
made fan base.
Sky News didn't
hold back, describing the warm-up as
"sexy."
Sky
compared the performance with less spontaneous but equally eyebrow raising
displays by Aussie swimmer Stephanie Rice, who posed in a revealing bikini-clad
"selfie" picture on Twitter.
Meanwhile,
the Sydney teenager with a hurdling personal best of 13.39 seconds, has
reportedly describes her hobbies as soccer, AFL, handball and hanging out with
her friends, according to
News.com.au.
Also: "As far back as
she can remember, she has had a passion for hurdling, even lining up teddy
bears for jumping practice at her parent’s home when she was very young."
